Hating winter but trying not to "dwell on the unpleasant things of life". So I won't. What I really want to say is anything that makes me forget/appreciate winter. Quilting remains good for that but lately it was too cold even to do that since it's in the basement which can be chilly. Also, Georgia's quilt is getting to the big n' bulky stage so it takes more energy to do less. Color is good- T and M and I made fruit faces today- we got every color of the rainbow represented if you count blueberries as blue, indigo, and violet. I think that's fair considering the multicolored mess they make. I think I've put up pictures of fruit faces before, but here's a reminder from last time we did it:

I also pulled out my Joy of Cooking yesterday looking for a recipe for split pea soup and found all these great soup recipes that I wanted to try..right now! Mulligatawny, minestrone, barley and potato...yum! Time to pull out the hearty winter soups! I miss soup so much in the summer, and now I totally have the weather for it. So I made a big pot of minestrone along with the split pea. That's more like it.

Last night on the news they said that our daylight hours are now getting longer. And that made me way too happy!

Yeah, I'm looking to make some lentil soup today. I like how you're looking on the bright side. It IS much for fun to eat soup on a cold day, although I make soup all year long b/c it's so darn good!

Thanks for the support. It felt really good to put tomatos and zucchini that I had frozen in the summer into the soup. A cycle complete. I also made raspberry cobbler/cake today with berries from Pontious Berry Farm that have been waiting for months for this day. Summer yum!

Lucy made a smoothie (all by herself) with those same berries that you brought here - and she loved it! Woohoo!
