Power Outage

There was a power outage last night in our section of Urbana -- this site was down between about 11 pm and 7:30 am.

Our house only dropped from 69 to 62 degrees during the 5 hours that power was out -- impressive! We got out the candles, blankets, and extra bedding for the hamster, who made good use of it.

I love it that you thought of Elephant. I always enjoyed those crisis times in our family . . . maybe because they weren't ever a huge crisis. Just hiding in the basement during tornadoes, playing games and reading stories. Candles and blankets---yum.

Power outage reminds me of a story I just heard---hopefully not from you guys. When Aaron and Lisa were on pilgrimage, they overheard members of the international Teaching Centre and the Universal House of Justice talking about a power outage in Brazil. It seems that, while the electricity was gone, violent crime rose dramatically. The House of Justice learned that the majority of crimes were committed by the middle class. The conversation turned to clusters, and it was said that clusters are bundles of human spirit that can prevent such tragedies from overtaking an area in need. Reminded me of a big map with lights representing clusters shining out in the dark, all connected with lines of light. I hadn't thought of clusters in quite that way before.
