Life in a very small square
So precious
I tremble to hold it
All I have
I will cast away
To protect it
So it can grow straight and green,
the tree of my children's hearts.
And I play at knowing what I'm doing
Hoping that showing up counts enough
And judging others on whether they are fit to do this with me.
Please God, show me where to put the doors
and where the walls
of this very small square.
Crying at my desk. Yes, and yes again. You've captured an immensely tender truth.
Much love,
Susan
