Final Exam

We're getting our house appraised (that means an inspector's going to come look at it and tell us how much it's worth, dollar-wise) tomorrow morning. I'm so nervous! It feels like the final exam from the Renovations 101 'class' we 'took' two years ago when we bought this house and fixed it up. Wish us luck! (It's kind of fun to have some drama that does not involve a willful small child.)

Update: It's going to take a few days to find out our 'grade' on the test, but I think that with a few corrections we will at least pass in the end. I'll be sure to update again when i know.

And it's not just an appraisal -- it's also an FHA inspection. No peeling paint, must have stair railings, GCI outlets near water, etc. (we don't exactly know all the etc, but we'll find out tomorrow). I am pretty sure we won't pass the first time, because we have peeling paint. But we will find out what we need to do in order to pass.

We passed part one of the test, by the way: our house is worth enough to mortgage. Part two of the test--whether it can pass inspection--is still undecided; we'll have special inspections of a flat section of the roof and a raised section of the foundation some time next week.
